Topical / Local anaesthetics

Local anaesthesia use in pain free dentistry is a type of anaesthetic used to prevent pain in a specific area of your mouth during treatment .

We may apply a topical anaesthetic to numb an area in preparation for administering an injectable local anaesthetic. Topical anaesthetics also may be used to soothe painful mouth sores. Injectable anaesthetics may be used in such procedures as filling cavities, preparing teeth for crowns or treating gum disease.

 Happy gas use

Giving nitrous oxide use in pain free dentistry is a way to help reduce anxiety during dental treatment and is great for children or nervous adults.

It can represent the most nearly ‘ideal’ clinical sedative situation.

Happy gas works very rapidly – it reaches the brain within 20 seconds, and relaxation and pain-killing properties develop after 2 or 3 minutes

You will be aware of what is happening around you but will feel more relaxed.

There’s no lasting effect – with the gas is eliminated from the body within 3 to 5 minutes after the gas supply is stopped.

IV sedation

Administered through an injection to make people feel like they are asleep you will feel so relaxed that you are unlikely to remember much about the procedure.

IV sedation in pain free dentistry is administered and monitored by a specialist to ensure the safety of our patients.
